April 2006
We started looking to purchase a VW camper back at the tail end of 2005. First we started looking at buying a 'bay', this being discounted in favor of a T25 - cost (6 grand for a complete wreck that nearly gassed us on the test drive was the final straw!) and practicality (drivability, comfort and space).
We spotted the following on-line ad in the Friday-Ad

Now... We read the Ad thought great. Got on the phone and arranged a viewing.
All appeared fine, it drove well (better than any Bay we'd tested), looking past the obligatory wash and polish, we agreed we were happy to part with or cash. A price was agreed, deposit paid and arrangements agreed to settle up and collect our new toy.
With a deal done we still decided to look just in case it all fell through and we came across the following ad:
Mmmmmm we thought. Picture was the same but description was different, could two vans be the same but different? We followed through with the purchase of the van we'd seen. Altough we were a bit concerned we still felt we'd be OK. Blind faith!
Getting it home we had a good nose round and under and still were comfortable. We couldn't help from thinking however that if a seller had to resort to using someone else's picture then what else were we to discover?
So, bright sunny day and time to take pictures for the insurance people. Here's a couple showing what 87wedgie actually looks like:
and Main difference is brown 'AutoSleeper' stripe down both sides plus across front and side of the 'high top'. What about that front bumper? Not on 87wedgie, it's all stock so no flash bits. It later transpired the awning that came with the van was also different, blue but different!
