volkswagent25 site background:
A blog started it all. We purchased our T25 Easter 2006, it was in reasonable condition but we knew there were things we needed to do to get it 'just right'. We had ideas of a full customisation but in the end retro came out as far more sympathetic and 'cool' (we couldn't really see a high top looking too hot customised, maybe you know different - let us know).
The blog was never going to quite do it, and I'm not good at diaries, so... volkswagent25.co.uk was born. At some point it's planned to resurrect the blog and host it ourselves.
The initial volkswagent25.co.uk site was written using a simple text editor. This started getting long winded as the site grew, so off I went in search for 'free' web editors. First up was:
- Evrsoft's First Page 2006, good but kept crashing, so... Next came
- NVu,but NVu messed code up each time a file was opened, I like my code tidy so I can find things!
- Finally in moved Adobe Dreamweaver MX, expensive but, it does what is says on the tin and... More importantly has good CSS editing support.
Current site history:
I know there's a big gap between the last entry and the launch of this updated site, but... holidays, work, my bonsai (small trees in pots) all got in the way, not to mention various ideas about developing volkswagent25.co.uk, and there's been a few, into a 'complete' T25 portal/resource. Hits to the old site were on the up and the sites bandwidth quota was hit, so time to be serious... to top all this search engine results (Google, MSN, Yahoo) continue to be pretty good in most cases resulting in being on the first or second page, not bad given I'd not put a lot of effort into this side of things! So there you are...
I'm still learning so watch out!!!
Looking forward to next year... Volkswagent25.co.uk is looking to take a big step from 'hand crafted' pages into Content management. For those of you that don't know about such matters it'll save me having to do all the html 'stuff' leaving me freeeeee... to concentrate on content.
